Carbon Comparison

Posted on 21 April 2010 by admin

Iceland volcano Eyjafjoell omits less carbon dioxide than contributing aircraft grounded in its wake. Earth scientists estimate emissions to be between 150,000 and 300,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per day.

According to the European Environment Agency (EAA), daily emissions from the aviation sector in the 27 nations of the European Union are around 440,000 tonnes per day.

A considerable margin by comparison it would appear that this natural disaster has had a positive result on the environment yet specialists caution this equation fails to account for consequential factors.
